Courses - Coach Accreditation Programme

There are a variety of ways for coaches to improve their skills. These include:
  • Attending the coach-the-coaches sessions arranged by your respective convenors in October, see Calendar
  • Use the resources that the club can offer, see Resources
  • Talk to fellow coaches, especially experienced and qualified coaches
  • The dates for the next Level One Coach Education course have been set:

    Sunday Oct 10 - 9am - 12pm
    Tues Oct 12 - 5.30 - 8.30pm
    Wed Oct 13 - 5.30 - 8.30pm
    Sunday Oct 17 - 9am - 12pm

    The course is to be held at the Cricket Academy at Westpac Stadium. The cost is $50. If you need any further information or want to register some people, call Mark Borthwick on 471-2154.

If we are to implement a sound Coach Education and Accreditation Programme:

1. What are we endeavouring to achieve?
     1.1 A high performance New Zealand team and a high number of quality players.
     1.2 A high number of quality high performance coaches.
     1.3 A high number of coaches at all levels of the game.

2. What are the priorities?
     2.1 quality
     2.2 quantity

New Zealand Cricket has three accreditation courses. They are:
     Level One
     Level Two
     Level Three.

Three development courses precede the accreditation programme.
     Milo Have A Go
     Milo Have-A-Go Cricket
     Getting Started in Cricket.

The following is a guide of player age levels for the accreditation and development programmes. Coaches are encouraged to be flexible when using this guide.

     Milo Have A Go 5 – 8 years
     Milo Have-A-Go Cricket 7 – 10 years
     Getting Started In Coaching 9 – 18 years
     Level One Accreditation 12 – 18 years

Level One Accreditation Representative age group including Zonal, District, Premier Club, Schools 1st eleven teams and Specialist Skill Coaching.

Level Two Accreditation Major Association National Tournament Teams, Major Association Second Eleven’s, Major Association First Class Teams and higher.

Level Three Accreditation Specialist Skill Coaching, Endorsement, Team Coaching

Coaches who have the potential ability to coach a skill at the highest level will be invited by New Zealand Cricket to specialise in that skill.

Coaches who have the potential ability to coach a team at the highest level will be invited by New Zealand Cricket to specialise in team coaching.
